James Kanter is a world-renowned clarinetist and mouthpiece maker based in California. During his more than 40 years as a clarinetist in Los Angeles, Kanter has performed in nearly 1,500 motion picture scores and hundreds of TV shows. Kanter served on the music department faculties of University of California, both the Santa Barbara and Irvine campuses, and California State University Northridge. He performed as principal clarinetist with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, and the Joffrey Ballet Orchestra.
Kanter continues to handcraft “James Kanter” clarinet mouthpieces using Chedeville Blanks. Here is a speech Kanter gave at ClarinetFest 2022 about his experience with Jody Espina and Chedeville.
