The Heart of Texas Concert Band will close the 2022-23 season with the annual Independence Day concert, this year entitled “An Alamo City Fourth.” We welcome our guests the River City Ringers of San Antonio, the Cedar Mountain Chorale, vocalist Elisabeth Failing and organist Geoffrey Waite for a concert that will all but blow the roof off Trinity Baptist Church’s sanctuary. A special feature of this concert will be a re-enactment of a Civil War era battle of the bands – bandsmen of the era, friendly rivals before the conflict, had the music of the other side in their repertory, and were known to serenade (!) the soldiers of the other side when the bands of the two armies were close enough to be heard across no-man’s-land. Truly an event to be remembered for years to come.
