The regular season of the band will conclude in May with HTxCB Talent Showcase 2023, a performance featuring composers, arrangers, soloists and guest conductors drawn from the membership of the band. As we welcome special guest, Dr. Gary Garner, professor emeritus- West Texas A&M University, and friends of the members of the band who will be in the spotlight on this occasion, featured will be old favorites and new. Composer (and retired physician) Richard Marple will premiere a fanfare written for the band, and “Legacy of the Valley,” a sparkling tone picture by Smithson Valley band director Mike Childress is another new piece for our audience on this program. Save the date – May 21 for this concert is always one of the most enjoyable of the year.
